Longtime nonwovens manufacturing industry executive joins zero-waste hemp processor
February 18, 2025
By: Tara Olivo
Associate Editor at Nonwovens Industry
Panda Biotech, a leader in developing and managing zero-waste hemp processing facilities, has announced the appointment of industry veteran Jason Johnson as the new head of its Nonwoven Sales Division. Johnson brings over 25 years of operational and sales experience in the nonwoven manufacturing industry, with extensive knowledge of equipment process and design and lean manufacturing principles. Johnson spent the last seven years supplying machinery to the nonwovens, technical textile and textile recycling markets. Prior to joining Panda Biotech, he served as the chief operating officer at Vita Nonwovens for nearly 15 years, where he started in 2001 as the engineering manager. Before his time at Vita, Johnson was a process engineer at Precision Fabrics Group, an innovative nonwoven producer specializing in high-performance dyeing, finishing and coating processes. Johnson holds both a Bachelors and Masters of Science in Textile Engineering from North Carolina State University. The Panda Hemp Gin of Wichita Falls, TX, is the largest hemp processing facility in the U.S., spanning 500,000 square feet and producing 35 million pounds of fiber annually. Panda Biotech’s commitment to sustainability, traceability and eco-friendly practices aligns with its dedication to advancing hemp-based solutions in industries such as textiles, construction, bioplastics and biofuel. Panda Biotech’s tagline, “American Owned. American Grown. American Processed,” reflects its ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, sustainable products sourced and processed within the U.S.
